135. "Trees nr. 31"
When I took this picture I was standing at the edge of a cliff. The photograph was taken while looking almost straight down. The tree once grew here, but apparently gave up.

They were constructing a new road through a trench in a hill. The colours of the earth form a nice contrast with the blue sky.

133. "Trees nr. 29"
For this picture I measured the light reflected off the grass. The trees became black silhouettes and the sky is over-exposed. That adds to the mystic atmosphere that you can still find in the Irish woods. You expect to meet a leprachaun any time. Some Irish still believe in them.

132. "Trees nr. 28"
Another wind-swept tree. One thing that strikes me in Ireland is the many shades of green. It rains very often, but when the sun comes out the full scale of colours is displayed.

A good composition is according to me the most important part of photography. Unfortunately there are not many photography sites that deal with this matter. Usually it's all about the latest technical gadgets. With the new digital techniques it's becoming even more technical. Ultimately photography is no more than the eye of the photographer.

Early in the morning. Five trees and three late trees. An uneven number of elements is usually more interesting in a composition than an even number.

Summer in Europe but it's winter in New-Zealand. It looks like the trees are in fall colour but that's not the case. There are no leaves left, but the branches have an orange or grey colour.

Better photography can be learned by taking lots of pictures, but particularly by looking at Art, you don't even have to go to a museum, although there's nothing better than the original work.
