409. Beach in Ireland.
When the sun is low in the sky the shadows are more beautiful, also the texture of the sand becomes more plastic.

408. Beach in Ireland.
Half an hour before I took this picture the beach was totally uninteresting for photography, because there was no sun. Photography outside is usually a matter of waiting for the right light.

406. Stone is stronger than ivy, still a few thousand years from now there won't be much left of this castle, but the ivy will probably still grow on top of the rubble.

Just bought the book "Ireland" by Frank Delaney. The history of Ireland from the beginning of our planet till now. Told by a mysterious timeless storyteller as a kind of eyewitness account.

405. This ivy on the wall of the ruin of a castle almost looks the same as the stone, especially because everything is overgrown by lichens.
Maybe the Celts were inspired by the beautiful intertwining shapes of the ivy.

The clouds make me think of the patterns you see in a glass of buttermilk after you have finished it.
I think there is more to be seen in buttermilk than in tea-leaves ;-)

402. Solution to ENIGMAPHOTO-2.
Photograph nr. 400 was posted upside-down. What you see are grooves in the mud of the river Shannon. The Shannon is a tidal river, everytime at low tide these meandering grooves will appear in the mud of the edges of the river.

This is the Enigmaphoto turned 90 degrees.
Tilt your head to the left and you see the picture as it should be seen.
Tilt your head to the right and your brain makes ridges of the grooves. |

399. Usually I'm not so much interested in creating a true image of reality. With this picture the exposure was intentionally measured from the clouds. That creates the atmosphere that you can still find in the west of Ireland. This picture was taken from the same position as the previous one. With a different lens and a different exposure you can create a totally different mood.
During my holidays in Ireland I read "Mccarthy's Bar" by Pete Mccarthy. This is the best book about modern Ireland I've read so far. A must.
